I mainly run on trails and mountains and love the freedom and headspace that running gives me and have met some lifelong friends along the way.
I was lucky enough to run in the inaugural SheUltra in 2024 and experience its magic. As an ambassador it’s a real privilege to have the opportunity to meet and support so many of the amazing and inspiring women who challenge themselves to take part

Nicola
My name is Nicola and I work for the NHS, i started running in 2020 I love running and enjoy long distance running. I love the feeling but I don’t chase PB’s, I’m a slower runner and enjoy every mile good or bad. I’m lucky to have a supportive husband and daughter who support me on every race. Running has made me a happier, healthier and stronger women. I have my own running group that welcomes and supports all abilities.

Lou
I started running 11 years ago when my dad, at 65, decided to try a triathlon. Starting with walk runs, I soon caught the running bug and joined my local running club in Shropshire where I loved road races and chasing personal bests. During COVID, I discovered a love for trail running and exploring local routes and Welsh mountains with a group of amazing women who have become friends for life, which we’ve now named ourselves as Girls Run Wild. I enjoy off-road ultras, prioritising adventure and joy over PBs. Ive now become a run leader and captain a XC team as I love encouraging others to experience the mental and physical benefits of running, especially when it involves mud.

Gwen
I’m Gwen (73🙈)…..always enjoyed keeping fit and being outdoors. As with many of you cancer has touched members of my family and I say thanks to the care shown by helping out with the She Ultra. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such an amazing organisation. Love meeting all you wonderful ladies.
Pleser mawr fod yn rhan o’r She Ultra.

Last year I had the privilege of representing SheUltra over in Portugal – an experience I’ll never forget. Julie
Hi I’m Julie, I’m 41,married and have an 18 year old son and 2 crazy working cocker spaniels. I fell in love with ultra running when I started volunteering for Huw with the Pen Llyn Ultras. I’ve done 7 ultras and going to be doing my first 100 miler this year. I love being out in the mountains and helping and inspiring others. The friends I’ve made in the running/walking community have become family to me and I’m very lucky ❤

Jayne
I’m Jayne from Lancashire- a proud Parbold Pink Panther and Skelmersdale Boundary Harrier. I’m a university lecturer and Reproductive Biologist by trade, hoping to help families have the babies they’ve longed for. Ironically, I spend my spare time (literally) running a long way from my beautifully but exhausting young sons just for the head space 🤪 and leading Scouts mountaineering. I love the freedom of adventures in the hills with great company 🥰. More than anything I adore seeing my running friends achieve their goals (and running in shorts in the snow 🤷🏻♀). I have MS, but it doesn’t define me, it makes me push my limits because at the end of the day none of us know when we will take our trainers off and never put them on again. Enjoy every moment

Running has transformed my life, taught me so much, and created opportunities and experiences that I am forever grateful for. Being a SheUltra ambassador is important, it’s a way of showing other women what running, connecting with nature, and achieving beyond limits can do for us all.

Liz

Been part of Huw’s volunteer team for many years. Love helping out, meeting new people, encouraging others and the feeling of putting medals around runners’ necks at the finish line is such a privilege. Such a lovely family community to be part of ♥

Shez
Hi I’m Shez and am 57 years young! I have lived most of the last 33 years in Abersoch, with a few years in the French Alps. It was during that time away that I started and fell in love with trail running. That was back in 2015 and since then I’ve been lucky to run in some of the most wonderful races in the Alps, including the MCC at UTMB, Marathon du Mont Blanc and Sierre Zinal as well as some of Huw’s amazing events here on Pen Llyn. I have struggled with the menopause and also spent a couple of years with a plantar fasciitis type injury, but have managed to overcome them. It has been a privilege to have been invited to be an ambassador!

Zoe
My name is Zoe, I’m 41 and I live in the countryside on the outskirts of Wrexham. I’ve been running for about 15 years with a background in road running, until I discovered the trails in 2017 and I have never looked back! I love exploring mountains, hills, and trails with bestie (Ozzie the Australian Shepherd). I still love to train on the roads but my heart resides in the mountains.
By day I am a communications manager for a pub group as well as a run coach, helping others find their passion for the sport and achieve their goals. My first ultra was the inaugural Beautifully Brutal Pen Llyn Classic 75 miler in 2017 and it got me hooked! I have also taken part in the Pen Llyn 50 miler as well as the Winter edition numerous times. I feel very honoured and proud to have been part of the first SheUltra in 2024 💕 and as an ambassador help more women take to the trails and grow in self confidence and self belief.

Maria
Hi, my name is Maria and I am originally from Poland now living in sunny Manchester.
I am nursing assistant but training toward to become a nurse.
I have a lovely family my husband, 2 boys and little precious disabled daughter, all trying best to support me in my running journey. My little Milla is a big rebel now and she doesn’t sleep at night ( at all). I treat it as a training to the long distance running but it makes my visit in Wales those days are almost impossible. I am not as involved as Ambassador at the min but my whole heart is with you all.
Running means a lot to me, I start running when Milla was about 10 months. I needed time just for myself. It very fast become something that I couldn’t skip in my weekly routine. I met many inspiring people trough, people for whom body limits doesnt really exist, “boundaries” are just something that we can cross and the most important thing Life is beautiful.
As a woman with some difficulties at the moment I am still running, still training, still trying to keep my mind healthy and give a good example to my children also as to my little community. Show that is so important to do things for ourselves, to care about our wellbeing so then to be able giving more to others.
I can’t wait to meet you all soon, if not before, I will see you all in Italy

Nia
Hey, my name is Nia and I’m a GP on Anglesey . I discovered running as a way to get some me-time & headspace from my 3 boys when they were younger. Then I discovered a whole tribe of amazing running mates who have since supported me through thick & thin and the importance of doing something for yourself. We are all capable of amazing things and I’ve been absolutely humbled by the incredible women I’ve met through being a She-Ultra ambassador ❤ #strongertogether.

Sarah
Hi I’m Sarah 51 from Plymouth, I started running in 2016 and fell in love with the trails. My first marathon was as it was known then Snowden trail marathon in 2017, my first ultra a month later The Crossing, Dartmoor 34 miles, and in September my first 100 miler, Robin Hood, by now I had the bug, but it wasn’t just the feeling of being out on the moors, it the support of the running community which is supportive and welcoming. My proudest achievements are 2nd lady in 2018 Pen Llyn Ultra 75 miles and 2nd lady KACR 145 miles in 2019. Since these I have also completed Robin Hood another 2 times and many other ultras. I suffer with Asthma and after contracting Covid now suffer with Long Covid which leaves me feeling constantly exhausted and with awful brain fog. But this doesn’t stop me from getting out and running, I have a couple of big runs this year to focus on, Lakeland’s 50 and Saints and Smugglers 100 miles in September. I’m very proud to be an ambassador for SheUltras and be apart of this amazing supportive community 💚
